Oluwaseun Oseni, who did not know the girl, approached her and grabbed her around the waist.

He then took hold of her throat as he pushed her against some shutters.

Screams

A woman working inside the taxi office heard the victim’s screams and attempted to intervene, but Oseni punched her face causing her glasses to break.

He then proceeded to drag the young victim to a car park at the rear of the building where he started to sexually assault her.

At this point, the woman who had intervened earlier returned with a security guard. They pulled Oseni away from his victim and took her to the taxi office and locked the door.

Oseni approached the front of the building and banged aggressively on the window before leaving the scene.

Arrest

The police were called and he was arrested nearby. Oseni, of Edmunds Avenue, Orpington, Greater London was later charged with sexual assault and two counts of actual bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and, on Wednesday 8 June 2022, the 33-year-old was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

PC Lucy Edworthy, of West Kent CID, said: ‘Oseni is a predatory and violent individual who saw the opportunity to target a young girl while she was trying to get home.

‘He is undoubtedly a danger to women and girls and the people who halted his attack should be congratulated for their actions.

‘I would also like to commend the victim and her family for courageously assisting us to bring this criminal to justice.’
