A teenager has been arrested following the theft of a car from a crematorium in Chatham.

Police received a report that a Ford Focus had been stolen from the crematorium in Maidstone Road, at around 1.50pm on Wednesday 2 March 2022.

At 2.22pm, patrols spotted the vehicle on a slip road leading to A2 Watling Street near Gravesend.

Pursuit

They requested the driver to stop, however he continued and was pursued into Dartford, where the Ford was safely bought to a stop near Baldwyn’s Park, Bexley.

Following the incident, a 16-year-old boy from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop when requested to do so, dangerous driving and failing to provide a breath test.

He has since been bailed until 17 March pending further enquiries.
