Two Folkestone residents who dumped rubbish at notorious hotspots in the town have been fined.
A man from Queen Street, left household waste, laminate floor packaging and decorating materials in an alleyway between Queen Street and Dover Road in February.
When challenged by an enforcement officer, he admitted the waste was his and at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 20 September, he was fined a total of £534.
Meanwhile, a woman from Dover Road, left household rubbish on a pavement at the junction of Dover Road and Charlotte Street in February. This was spotted by a patrolling enforcement officer and when spoken with, the woman admitted the waste was hers. She was fined a total of £434.
F&HDC’s Cabinet Member for Enforcement, Regulatory Services, Waste and Building Control Cllr Stuart Peall said: “The Dover Road and Queen Street areas are real hotspots for fly-tipping. These prosecutions show to anyone living nearby who is thinking of dumping their waste that we will not tolerate it.”
Cllr Peall added: “We encourage the public to report any anti-social behaviour, including fly-tipping incidents for clearing up and investigation, by going to https://bit.ly/3bSzfJs.
“Bulky waste can easily be disposed of using our new collection service on MyAccount, or at Kent County Council’s household waste recycling centres.”
