Kent Police charge man over theft of 3 cars containing tools worth £100,000 from Deal

Charges have been authorised as Kent Police continues to investigate the theft of three cars from a property in Deal.

A Jaguar, a Ford Ranger and a Mercedes Sprinter van, which contained tools valued at around £100,000, was taken from the driveway of a property in the Sholden area on Friday 18 June 2021.

Following enquiries by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad, a man was arrested in Wolverhampton on Friday 17 September.

The 23-year-old has since been charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle, in addition to two additional counts of attempted burglary. These attempted break-ins are alleged to have taken place elsewhere in Deal, on the same date.

The man, who is from Liverpool, has been remanded in custody to attend Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 September 2021.

Marcus Jones, 20, also from Liverpool, has been charged with the same three burglary offences, having been arrested on Friday 17 August.

He pled guilty to each charge at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the next day and has been remanded in custody. He will be sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on a date to be determined.

Enquiries to identify any further suspects linked to the case remain ongoing.
