A national campaign aimed at protecting motorcyclists, pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists on the road is being supported by Kent Police.
Between Monday 13 and Sunday 19 September 2021, forces across the country will be taking part in an operation led by the National Police Chiefs’ Council to safeguard vulnerable road users.
Officers from Kent Police’s Roads Policing Unit supported by other colleagues from across the force will patrol roads where such people are most at risk and take action against any motorists caught committing offences.

Chief Inspector Elena Hall, Head of Roads Policing, said: ‘Motor vehicles are potentially lethal weapons and even the slightest lapse in concentration whilst driving can lead to tragedy.
‘The risk posed to motorcyclists, pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists is higher and they are sadly more likely to die or be seriously injured if involved in a collision, which is why operations such as this are so important to raise awareness and enforce the law against those who place other people in harm’s way.
‘We will also be using this operation as a way to educate vulnerable road users about action they can take to protect themselves on the roads, such as wearing high visibility clothing and ensuring their choice of transport is safe and roadworthy.
‘Road safety is a shared responsibility and we work regularly with our partners including Medway Council and Kent County Council to help educate all road users about the safest way to travel.’
