A suspect has appeared in court accused of racially abusing a hospital worker in Ashford.
Kent Police officers were called following a report of an aggressive man at the William Harvey Hospital at 7.50pm on Wednesday 25 August 2021 and, following enquiries, arrested a man.
The man from Ashford, has since been charged with racially aggravated assault in relation to the incident.
The 36-year-old is also charged with assaulting an emergency worker in relation to a police officer who was called to respond to the incident.
He is also charged with causing criminal damage to a police van.
The man appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 27 August and was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2 September.
Detective Inspector Matthew Smith said: ‘Kent Police will not tolerate assaults on our officers or on staff of partner agencies such as the NHS.
‘We will thoroughly investigate reports of any such offences and do everything we can to bring those suspected of being responsible before the courts.’
