Kent Fire and Rescue crews were called to reports of a trapped dog in the rocks at Sunny Sands Beach in Folkestone.

The owner of the dog called 999 around 6.49pm on Wednesday 23 June 2021.

Two fire engines, a boat and a technical rescue unit were sent to the scene.

Heavy rescue cutting equipment and drills were used to cut away rocks to try and reach the dog, but sadly due the speed of the rising sea water it made it impossible to carry out a rescue safely, and it had to be abandoned.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said their thoughts are with the owner at this sad time. The crews in attendance worked as fast as they could and did everything possible under the circumstances to save the family pet.
