Folkestone & Hythe District Council is appealing for information after waste from a bathroom refurbishment was dumped near the play area in George Gurr Crescent, Folkestone.
The fly-tippers drove up to the area, which is popular with families and dog walkers, to dump the building waste. It included rather distinctive, salmon-coloured brickwork, a shower, toilet, building bags and PVA glue which was found seeping into the ground.
Council officers, who had to clear up the mess, believe that a resident may recognise the dumped rubbish and may have paid someone in good faith to remove the waste. Anyone collecting waste must be registered with the Environment Agency and this can be checked on the Environment Agency website.
Cllr Stuart Peall, Folkestone and Hythe District Council Cabinet Member for Enforcement, Regulatory Services, Waste and Building Control – said: “It is always sad to see fly-tipping anywhere in our district. This selfish act shows complete disregard to the children, families, dog walkers and animals who all enjoy using the park.
“The council will not tolerate any illegal dumping of waste and we will always seek to prosecute fly-tippers. This incident is not only sad for local residents, but also for the environment. I am urging anyone with information to come forward and get in touch.”
